True Religion

Premium denim showcase for True Religion. Lifestyle photography, close-up texture shots, fit-and-wash selector, and brand-heritage design emphasizing craftsmanship.
Overview
Premium denim showcase for True Religion. The creative combines lifestyle photography with close-up texture shots of the iconic horseshoe stitching, emphasizing the craftsmanship that justifies the price point. A fit-and-wash selector lets users browse the collection with GreenSock transitions between styles.
Context
The fit-and-wash selector was the most complex interactive element I built for a fashion account. Most product selectors are one-dimensional (pick a color, pick a size), but denim shoppers think in two dimensions: fit first (Skinny, Straight, Relaxed), then wash (Dark, Medium, Vintage). That created a matrix of image combinations. Each fit × wash pair needed its own product shot, and transitioning between them had to feel instant, not like loading a new page. I pre-cached all image combinations on ad open and used a swap-on-tap pattern. GreenSock fades out the current shot while fading in the selected one, and the CTA URL updates simultaneously with both fit and wash parameters baked in. The texture close-up section was simpler but required careful art direction. The denim stitch detail and wash variations needed to be large enough to show craftsmanship but not so zoomed in that they lost context.
How It Works
Heritage
Full-bleed lifestyle photography. True Religion logo with horseshoe mark animates in. Brand heritage tagline fades up.
Craft
Transition to close-up denim photography: stitch detail, wash texture, hardware. The craftsmanship justifies the premium.
Collection
Fit-and-wash selector. Users browse styles (Skinny, Straight, Relaxed) and washes (Dark, Medium, Vintage). Each combination updates the product imagery.
Shop
Shop now CTA with collection deep links. Product-specific routing based on selected fit and wash.
Engineering
Texture Photography
Close-up detail shots of denim stitching and wash variations. Full-bleed imagery where the fabric texture is the content.
Fit Selector
Interactive grid of fit options. Tapping a fit updates the model shot to show that silhouette. Combined with wash selection for multi-dimension browsing.
Heritage Design
Distressed typography, raw edge treatments, and warm color palette. The design language matches the brand's "worn-in luxury" aesthetic.
Product Routing
CTAs carry both fit and wash parameters in the deep link URL, letting users land on the exact product page for their selection.
Engineering Decisions
At $200+, the detail justifies the price. Showing the stitch quality and wash depth in close-up makes the craftsmanship tangible.
Denim shoppers care about fit first, wash second. A two-axis selector mirrors how they actually shop, "I want a skinny in dark wash."
True Religion's brand is L.A. rock-and-roll. Clean minimalism would feel like a different brand. Distressed edges and raw typography match their identity.
Sending users to a collection page with 100+ SKUs creates overwhelm. Carrying their fit+wash selection into the URL lets them land on 5-10 relevant products.
